After 101 years, the old syrup maker evaporated peacefully at Fenelon Court on January 30, 2019. Alice, along with her late husband Fred, spent 41 years of their lives farming in Verulam and raised three children, Muriel (wife of the late Murry Burnett), Gail and Duane. She enjoyed spending many hours alone in the sugarbush boiling sap in spring and tending her garden in summer. After their retirement to Bobcaygeon in 1985, their garden and indoor plants flourished under her care. She spent the last 11 years tending her flowers and plants to enhance life at Fenelon Court. Alice will be missed by son-in law Mike Chell, her grandchildren, Susan Burnett, Kevin Burnett, Emily Johnson (Dan Le Mesurier), Sharon Walker (Glenn), great grandchildren Sean Burnett, Kari Burnett and Iris Henderson, and special friends Jan Sheridan and Nancy Wilson. Funeral service was held at Jardine Funeral Home on February 3, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. until time of funeral service in the chapel at 3 p.m..
