Obituary for Archibald "Archie" Muir

Archibald Muir
It is with great sadness that we announce Archie passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family at Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay, Ontario, on Wednesday, June 12, 2019. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Jessie, and his son Peter (Cathy Muir), and daughters Patricia (Don Rand) and Nancy (Tom Grizzard); grandchildren Daryl and Sarah Milley (Michael Morrison), Michael (Vicky Muir), and David (Melissa Muir); and great-grandchildren Zachary, Jacob, Hannah, Evan and Avery Muir. Born in Toronto, Ontario, on January 24, 1928, Archie was proud of his Scottish heritage and valued the simple life of the love of family and hard work. In his early years, he joined the Bank of Nova Scotia at age 21 as an accountant, building a career and rising to Manager. In 1968, Archie followed his entrepreneurial spirit and opened his own business. After retirement, he enjoyed many summers at his cottage, eventually moving to Fenelon Falls. He loved boating and golf and was a long-time member at Sturgeon Point Golf Club. Archie was warm and sincere, and known for his love of all things mechanical. He was always prepared to help and relished the challenge of fixing anything, be it a lawn mower, car brakes, an outboard motor, a leaky roof, or a hair dryer. He was truly a Jack of all trades. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks for the wonderful care he received from Dr. Shepard and the nursing staff at Ross Memorial Hospital. A funeral service will be held at Trentside Baptist Church, 80 Colborne Street, Fenelon Falls on Tuesday, June 18 at 1:00 p.m. Visitation from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada or Ross Memorial Hospital.
