Obituary

SWANTON, Clela Victoria

It is with heartfelt sadness that we share the passing of Clela Victoria Swanton (nee Shier) on Friday, March 22, 2019 three weeks before her 90th birthday. Clela is predeceased by her parents Laura and Delson Shier of Cannington, and her husband, Ron, to whom she was married for 53 years. She is survived by her son, Doug Swanton and his wife Evelyn of Erie, Colorado, and her daughter, Jayne Johnston of Burlington. She was the proud Grandmother of Michael and Sarah of Burlington, Kayla, Megan and her husband Mat Lang in Colorado and Great Grandmother to Emerson. She was loved by many nieces, nephews and cousins, and was a cherished friend. Clela was a dedicated nurse for 40 years with much of that time at Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay. She loved her time at the cottage, boat rides (but not too fast!), antiques, fall drives to see the colours, and anything chocolate! She will be greatly missed. Visitation will be held at the JARDINE FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION & TRIBUTE CENTRE, 8 Princes Street, West, Fenelon Falls on Tuesday, March 26 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm with the funeral service in the chapel on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at 1:00 pm. Guests are invited to a reception following the service at Fenelon Falls United Church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Ross Memorial Hospital or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Online condolences or donations can be made at www.jardinefuneralhome.com.

Doug and Jayne I was so sorry to hear about your mom. We heard about her funeral after, so we were unable to come.
Your mom will be so missed. With her quick smile and ability to make you feel she was paying attention to you she was always fun to run into in town or at church. She always had a story to tell about all of you. She was so proud of you all and got such joy out of all the things you were doing. Again, I’m sorry for your loss and for missing the opportunity to show our respects. Mom sends a hug your way. Be well. Pj

Our condolences to Doug and Jayne and families. We just heard the news which explains our absence at the funeral home. Your mom was a truly wonderful lady. She brightened everyone's day wherever she was. As a young person I had frequent hospital stays and every time I would get a warm blanket and a warm, loving, reassuring hand on my arm from your mom. I know how busy she was and it meant the world to me that she would see my name and take the time to visit and comfort me. And I know I am not the only one with that story. She touched so many people with her love. She will be greatly missed. She will be lovingly remembered.
With love from Eileen Isaac and Shawn Sinclair
